In today’s Exclusive Interview, we have the talented singer-songwriter PEB on our E-seat. Known for her soulful voice and powerful storytelling, PEB has been making waves with her music. However, her journey hasn’t been without its challenges most recently, she faced the unfortunate experience of having her album Find Me pulled down illegally by her distributor.
She opens up about navigating the music industry as an independent artist, overcoming setbacks, and staying true to her artistry. She also shares advice for other rising musicians and gives us a glimpse into what’s next for her.
Let’s get to know PEB beyond the music!

Q: The name PEB was coined from your name. What was that process like for you?
A: “It was scrabbling papers and God’s direction, when I figured I wanted to do music at 15 I figured I needed a name and I didn’t want anything far fetched from my name, I tried to make use of the first letters combining it differently till I arrived at PEB and it just sounded perfect”
Q: PEB, how are you doing genuinely?
A: “I’m doing great. I’m pumped for what’s coming.”
Q: Your album Find Me was pulled down illegally by your distributor. How did that experience affect you, and how are you navigating it?
A: “It opened my eyes and made me realize you have to make sure your building is properly fenced so no one can come in to disrupt what you’re building. It also made me realize I had a few lapses and I needed to use this opportunity to do the right thing.”
Q: What keeps you motivated despite the challenges?
A: “Destiny.”
Q: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned as an independent artist?
A: “Keep moving.”
Q: How do you approach songwriting?
A: “I approach songwriting differently depending on the situation. I’m a melody writer, so if I’m presented with an instrumental, I vibe to sync in the right melody before fitting lyrics to it. If I’m playing the piano, I go in with chords and express exactly how I’m feeling in that moment. Then sometimes, I fit the melody to statements that sound rhythmic.”
Q: What does Women’s Month mean to you?
A: “It’s a time where women’s impacts are recognized, celebrated, and appreciated.”
Q: Who are some female artists you admire?
A: “Tems, Rihanna, Adele.”
Q: What advice would you give to female artists trying to navigate the industry?
A: “Don’t wait for anybody to push you. Push yourself, lead yourself, then you’ll find the right persons.”
Q: Can we expect new music from you soon? And will Find Me be back up anytime soon?
A: “Find Me album will be back up soon. We’re waiting for the platform now, plus there are about 10 new songs on the album you’ve not heard, so get ready, it’s about to be a ride”
Q: Are there any dream collaborations in the works, or artists you’d love to collaborate with?
A: “I’d love to collaborate with Odumodu, Rema, Shallipopi.”
Q: What’s one secret that no one would guess?
A: “I’ve never been in love.”
Q: What is the one thing you hope for women in music?
A: “We get to top charts, and our gender does not limit our music and the heights we can climb. Also, collaborations.”
Q: Beans and Bread or Beans and Rice?
A: “Beans and rice”
Q: What’s your Women’s Month motto?
A: “Embracing Singlehood.”
