Exclusive Interview With Eikobaby – Women’s Month Special

In today’s Exclusive Interview, we have Eiko Baby on our E-seat as she takes us through her journey as an eccentric and cheerful musical artist.

From starting in the church choir to chasing after artists to learn from them, Eiko Baby shares her path into music, her inspirations, and the moments that have shaped her career. She also opens up about her sound, dream collaborations, and what it means to be a woman in the industry today.

Let’s get to know Eiko Baby beyond the music!

Eiko Baby

Q Who is Eiko Baby?
A: “Eiko Baby is a very cheerful, eccentric musical artist.”

Q How do you maintain authenticity in an industry that often demands change?
A: “I have salient mentors, they help me hold my ends lol. It’s not all easy (for real), but I know what I am supposed to do, so it comes seamlessly to me.”

Q What’s the story behind your journey into music?
A: “I started from the church choir, to backing up (vocally) local artists, to chasing peeps I thought were musically good, for they could teach me what they knew. I ‘harassed’ them till they agreed to teach me lol.”

Q When did you realize you wanted to pursue music professionally?
A: “Since I started watching Disney movies and music competitions on TV (at 11/12 years, I’m not sure).”

Q What has been the most memorable moment of your career so far?
A: “Learning from Godwin Tom, MBA.”

Q Your songs Borrowed Love, Goner, and Risky Love are such favorites.
A: “Yea, I discovered that since I could not possibly hide how much of a lover girl I am, I could as well translate it into my singing.”

Q If I am correct, Borrowed Love is the only solo song you have, right?
A: “I’d like to think so lol, but on account of Eiko Baby, yes it is.”

Q Any plans to drop music soon?
A: “Yesss! I am working on a lot of music, and I cannot wait to share.”

Q How has your sound evolved over the years, and what influences have shaped that growth?
A: “A lot, really. I am more intentional than ever. Growth is beautiful, isn’t it?”

Q If you could collaborate with any female artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
A: “Asa. The synergy would be electrifying.”

Q What message were you trying to convey with Borrowed Love?
A: “I was trying to explain the extent to which I would go to save a broken relationship, just so I do not lose my lover.”

Q As a female artist, what is one thing you wish was different in the industry?
A: “Authentic, lifetime-experience live performances, amazing artist touring too.”

Q Have you faced any challenges or biases as a woman in music, and how did you navigate them?
A: “Hmmmm. I’d rather not say. I am killing it tho.”

Q Do you think the industry provides enough opportunities for female artists to thrive? If not, what should change?
A: “I believe they are trying, but more will be welcoming.”

Q Who are some female artists that inspire you, and why?
A: “Asa, Simi, Tems, and Tiwa.”

Q If you weren’t doing music, what career path do you think you would have taken?
A: “Fashion and dress creation, hosting shows, and talking.”

Q Should we be expecting any new project or updates soon?
A: “Absolutely.”

Q What’s a fun fact about you that your fans don’t know?
A: “I am verrrryyyyy funny and goofy.”

Q What do you do outside of music that helps fuel your creativity?
A: “I read and study, watch movies too.”

Q What’s one thing you want your fans to take away from your journey?
A: “Love, serenity, and hope.”

Q Share with us a secret no one would have guessed.
A: “My dad is a pastor. It’s not a secret, but most peeps don’t know.”

Q What is the sweetest thing a woman has ever done for you, and what is something you have done to make a woman’s life easier?
A: “OH, a lot actually. Paid for my vocal treatment. Taught me most things I know now.
I really cannot recall at the time. They would remember more than I would. Shared my resources… when they needed support, I gave more.”

Q What’s one thing you hope for women in music?
A: “Strength, precision, authenticity, and visibility.”
