In today’s Exclusive Interview, we have Sickoboy on our E-seat, a dedicated artist making applaudable moves and putting in the work to become the next big thing.
In this conversation, we discuss his journey so far, his influences, and the creative process behind his recent and upcoming project “BUTTY”. He also shares some fun facts, secrets, and what the future holds for him
Let’s get to know Sickoboy beyond the music.

Q: Who is Sickoboy?
A: “Sickoboy is an Afro-riddim artist and a rapper, distinct something you’ve never heard anywhere before.”
Q: You took a break from releasing music for a while. Why, and what were you up to during that time? up to?
A: “Well after the release of mind & soul, I have had to work on a new extended play titled ‘&s chronicles’ which was released some months ago(Nov 1, 2024), currently about to drop a new single titled ‘butty'”
Q: We heard you run a business. What’s it about, and how do you balance it with music and school?
A: “Yes, I own ‘Noctua Nest’. It’s a creative Agency/Company that deals with branding, marketing and advertising.
I’m not struggling to keep up with music and my work because I have a schedule for each of them.”
Q: Fun fact about you that people might not know?
A: “I’ve been a rapper for as long as forever and i made my first 100,000 naira at 14 from a rap battle.”
Q: This is your second time on F.E.P Scouts blog. In our 2021 feature, we mentioned that you’re a great cook. Do you still cook? What’s the best meal you’ve made, and who rated it?
A: “Yes I still cook, probably spaghetti bolognese. My girlfriend loves my food, she rates it a 10/10.”
Q: Take us back, when did your music journey start, and what made you take it seriously?
A: “I’ve always had passion for music. The journey started when I was about 13 years old. At 14 I started going for rap battles and was awarded 100k at the time. It was my first hard earned money, I was super proud of myself and I put it in a lot of effort to doing and becoming better.”
Q:What’s the most challenging part of making music for you?
A: “Well, let me just say the clearing off the songs, the funding, basically. Nothing else asides that.”
Q:Who are your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your sound?
A: “I’ll be real, I listen to a whole lot of everything. I can’t pick a particular person that I’ll say influences my music, it’s just a mix of my God given talent and everything else I listen to.”
Q: How do you approach making music? Do you have a set creative process, or does inspiration strike randomly?
A: “You’ll honestly have to watch me make music to understand, I wouldn’t be able to explain it off just talking about it.”
Q: Do you have any personal rituals or habits that help you stay inspired?
A: “Yes I do, reading spiritual and historical books or watching documentaries on them. And yeah I meditate sometimes too.”
Q: Let’s talk about your upcoming project, BUTTY. Is it a single or something bigger? Any collaborations on it? What’s the story behind it, and what should listeners expect?
A: “BUTTY. It was a collaboration with Todi, a producer, a very talented one at that. “BUTTY” is a triumphant anthem about rising from nothing to success. It captures the journey from struggle to victory—no silver spoon, just hard work and perseverance. The song blends raw storytelling with celebratory energy, making it both motivational and reflective. With a beat that balances grit and luxury, ‘BUTTY’ is the perfect soundtrack for anyone who’s turned their pain into power.”
Q: Looking back, is there one decision in your career you’re most proud of?
A: “Probably dropping &s chronicles? Against all odds and everything all the obstacles I had to overcome to put it out and putting out a Project after going off the radar for about 2 years.”
Q: What’s your ultimate goal as an artist?
A: “Impact people, beyond just DSPs and tours, affecting their everyday life, positively.”
Q: Any dream collaborations?
A: “J Cole, would be a dream come true for me.”
Q: Finally, for people discovering you for the first time, what’s one thing you’d like them to know about you and your music?
A: “It’s really like nothing you’ve heard before, and if you have to listen to a project, don’t listen on shuffle, every song was made to come after the next one for a reason.”
