The last time we met Emly, it was on ON THE E-SEAT our exclusive interview blog, where we got a glimpse of a young woman balancing music, engineering, and dreams that ran deeper than lyrics. Since then, she’s grown, lived, and evolved and now she’s back with a new single, “Somebody Else” (dropping this Wednesday) and her EP, POV (out Friday).
This isn’t just a return, it’s a reinvention. A louder, clearer, more grounded version of the Emly we met before.
This brings us to the question, WHO IS EMLY NOW?

For those who don’t know, Nwankwo Emly Oluchi, the Abia-born creative, is many things. She’s a musician. She’s an engineer with a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Ashesi University. She’s a sports enthusiast who finds rhythm not just in beats but in the movement of her body, from tennis courts to table tennis tournaments.
But most of all, Emly is an artist who feels deeply and expresses honestly.
“My sound is truthful, inspiring, informative, and warm. It’s an experience. It’s love.”
— Emly
One thing we also noted is the growth between now and then.
When asked what shaped her sound, Emly doesn’t list albums or industry moments, she lists life. The quiet frustrations, the background noise of real conversations, the wins, and the inner battles of imposter syndrome.
“Every day I live through has shaped me… school, work, home, social gatherings. What I can say is that I’ve never let any of it impact me negatively.”
– Emly
It’s not about what happened to her, instead it is about how she turned it into music.
Emly’s new music is still deeply her (authentic and self conscious), just more refined, intentional, and emotionally tuned in. Working closely with collaborators like Eikó, Cozykiyo, Dabz, Icewrld, Musta4a, Trbl, and BlvckRue, she has been crafting stories that don’t hide behind metaphor.
Expect to feel growth, anger, excitement, motivation, and of course, love.
Her creative process? No rules. No rituals. Just the pursuit of making something real and worthy for the world to feel and ears to hear.
“As long as I make something good, I’m good.”
– Emly
As our team members had described:
“Emly creates music that respects the time of her listeners”
– miss boothie of Scout Booth
She won’t give you a reason to doubt her craftand you’ll never feel like you wasted a moment listening to her.
Just like everyone, we all have that one defining moment, a shift that changes the course of things for us. And for most talents, it is usually when they hit the limelight or maybe a viral moment or a high profile co-sign. But for Emly it was when her parents approved her music.
“When I got my parents’ go-ahead.”
– Emly
Sometimes, the most powerful green light doesn’t come from the industry, it comes from home. That simple “yes” from her parents became the fuel she needed to finally go full force and now, she’s not looking back.
As we can see Emly’ has been making every moment count.
While it is common to chase charts, Emly prioritizes connection with her fan and every single moment she has to share her gift of music with them.
“To me, success is not giving up. As long as I keep making music, I feel accomplished. Knowing that people connect with my music… that’s the feeling I long for.” She said.
From her performance at Love in the Blvd to her very first editorial feature with Scout Booth, she’s had moments. But more importantly she has built momentum.
And when asked about achievements that stand out to her so far, her answer was simple, yet significant:
“I’d say my performance at Love in the Blvd and my very first editorial with Scout Booth.”
And off the mic, Emly is full of life. She’s a big sister, a foodie, a lover of parties, and a walking collage of interests, sports, art, fashion, engineering, beauty, and anything that sparks her creativity.
She’s not a machine churning out music. She’s a human breathing it in and letting it back out, reshaped.
But guess what? She will be dropping new music soon! A single and an E.P
